Clinical Polygraph Examinations

Clinical polygraph examinations are a specialized area within the polygraph profession. Clinical examiners have received additional training in providing POST-CONVICTION SEX OFFENDER TESTING and are certified by the American Polygraph Association.

There are four distinct types of clinical polygraph examinations that are used in conjunction with the treatment and supervision of sex offenders.

Disclosure Over Instant Offense

This test is typically done at the beginning of probation/parole and treatment when the subject is in denial of the crime of conviction.

Disclosure Over Sexual History

The purpose is to verify full and complete disclosure of sexual history for treatment purposes. A sexual history questionnaire, completed by the offender and approved by the treatment provider must be submitted to the polygraph examiner before the examination.

Monitoring

This test covers any sexual re-offending and any other illegal sexual behavior for a designated time period since being on probation/parole.

Maintenance

This test covers any violations of probation/parole conditions not listed above, or violations of treatment rules and contracts, but cannot address both. It is typically done every six months to a year, or as needed.

Each test takes from 2 to 3 hours to complete. Specific areas of concern are identified prior to testing and the relevant questions are formulated to address those concerns. There are no surprises in the questioning. All questions and answers are discussed fully with the subject prior to testing.

Results of the examination are available directly after the test. A verbal report may be made to the requesting agency at that time. A full written report is available within 2 working days.

Omega Polygraph provides clinical polygraph services through out the Southern California area. Omega Polygraph is dedicated to the use of the Containment Approach when dealing with post-conviction sex offenders. Testing may be completed at the location of the requesting agency or at our office in San Bernardino, California.
